The Artist Edition
For Christian Fenske, creative director at DRESSLER, the new collection is a journey back in time to his family’s artistic past – and a love letter to the creative power of fashion.
At the core of ‘The Artist Edition’ lies a very personal source of inspiration: a series of works painted in the 1960s and 1970s by Christian Fenske’s late mother-in-law. The abstract, large-format paintings have especially influenced the choice of colours and textures.
C. Fenske: “I wanted to include as many hues from the paintings as possible without them being recognisable at first glance.” The different thickness of both the brushstrokes and the paint as applied to the canvas lend the artworks contrasting surfaces, which have also been transformed into fabric.
